Western Park Scout Centre
Working with NJC Surveys Ltd, a rapidly expanding survey company, run by parents of a Cub Scout in the group and DPM Services we now have a final design and are working towards the submission of a planning application before Christmas. Watch this space some drawings soon.
Mewies Engineering Consultants (again run by parents within the group) will then work up costings and the project team of Mark Timson, Sharon Kaye and Jonathan Bloor will specify the fixtures and fittings for costing and consultation. Hopefully then we should have a final fundraising target to work towards.
Discussions will be finalised with Ashby Town Council around our partnership with a view to maintaining the momentum.
During 2012 we’ve opened an additional Beaver Colony and Cub Pack which means we have a potential 60 extra places. We need to take time to rebuild our adult support for these sections but at present most enquiries to join can just about be satisfied.
During 2013 we will review the demand for future sections and work to recruit leaders and support them to open these sections. We will also work with the District team to ensure availability of places for older Scouts into Explorers since this is starting to become a problem.
We will continue to work to improve communication to parents and within the group. There will also be work undertaken to ensure that we are in the minds of local people and we will reach out to more of our community more often.
A focus on delivering more “Everyday Adventure” began this summer and will continue during 2013.
Our leader training programme will be completed and we will continue to support new leaders. Opportunities for additional adult training will be supported where feasible.
Behind the Scenes
Our committee will continue to support the leaders and young people. We will bolster their numbers and enable them to complete reviews of membership information, managing recruitment and delivering the Christmas Post service. Together, we will work alongside the leaders to continue to grow the group.
